Republic of Cyprus Police declare Neighbourhood Watch schemes a success!

Neighbourhood watch schemes across the island of Cyprus have contributed to the reduction in crime and the feeling of safety in the community.  That is Republic of Cyprus, an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean and the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean. Yes the one where the official languages are greek and turkish!

Results from a survey conducted on behalf of the Police force’s crime prevention department concluded that Cyprus boasts 79,000 neighbourhood observers in 166 municipalities and communities across the republic.

The survey showed that 89 per cent of people felt safer in their area and there was an increase in trust and satisfaction felt toward the Police.
